"I signed up to help a friend. I came home with a renewed appreciation for the impact YACT is making."

When YACT asked for a volunteer for their book drive, I said yes thinking it would be a single Saturday. It turned into one of the most important days of my year.

The road from Abuja gets quieter the further north you go. By the time we pulled into the school, three children were already waiting at the gate. They had been there since dawn.

The handover

What struck me wasn't the gratitude—though there was plenty. It was the order. The headmistress had a plan. Every new addition to the library had a place. Every place had a purpose

Nothing about this was charity. It was a long-promised meeting between a child and the book they had been waiting for.

I drove home in silence. The images of that day stayed with me the entire journey home

Every story here exists because someone chose to act.
